Car maintenance checklist
A. Operations after engine is warmed up
Change engine oil and oil filter
Check / adjust valve clearance (except for vehicles with auto?lash adjusters)
Check / adjust basic ignition timing (petrol powered vehicles)
Check / adjust basic idling speed and CO concentration (petrol powered vehicles)
Check crankcase ventilation hoses (petrol powered vehicles)
Check cooling system for leaks
Check fuel system clamp for looseness and damages
B. Operations inside the engine compartment
CheckV-belts for cracks, fraying wear and adjust tension
Check condition of distributor contact points
Check condition of distributor spark advancer
Check condition of distributor cap, rotor & condenser
Check ignition cables for damages
Check vacuum pump oil hoses for damages (diesel powered vehicles)
Check condition and clean spark plugs (petrol powered vehicles)
Check air cleaner element for clogging and damages
Check fluid level in automatic transmission (including transfer)
Check engine coolant condition & level
Check brake / clutch fluid & power steering fluid level & condition
Check / adjust brake pedal & clutch pedal for free play
Check / top up battery electrolyte level and terminals for loose connections/corrosion; check battery clamp
C. Operations under the vehicle
Check suspension system for looseness & damages
Check suspension arm ball joints for play & dust covers for damages
Check drive shaft boots for damages
Check steering linkage for damages & loose connections (including seals & boots)
Check gear oil level in manual transmission (including transfer case)
Check gear oil level in front & rear axles
Check exhaust pipe connection / installation for gas leakages or damages
Tighten underchassis bolts / nuts
heck / adjust parking brake stroke & play
D. Operations outside the vehicle
Check brake hoses & pipes for leakages
Check fuel hoses and pipes for leakages
Check tire wear, tread depth, inflation pressure, center cap and tire valve cap
Check windshield wiper nozzle and wiper blade
E. Electrical operations
Check condition and function of all exterior lamps
Check condition and function of all interior lamps
Check instrument panel lamp
Check all instrument panel meters and gauges
Check function of all power windows, power mirrors and power door locks
Check front/rear wipers in all ranges
Check horn
Check warning buzzer
Check power antenna

Check gear oil level in front & rear axles
Check exhaust pipe connection / installation for gas leakages or damage
Tighten underchassis bolts / nuts
Check / adjust parking brake stroke & play

Rotate tires
Check brake hoses & pipes for leakages
Check / clean brake pads, shoe linings, discs for wear, brake & drums for wear
Check fuel hoses and pipes for leakages
Check tire wear, tread depth, inflation pressure, center cap and tire valve cap
Check windshield wiper nozzle and wiper blade
E. Electrical operations

Check fuel system clamp for looseness and damages
B. Operations inside the engine compartment
Check V-belts for cracks, fraying wear and adjust tension
Check condition of distributor contact points
Check condition of distributor spark advancer
Replace contact point and condenser
Check ignition cables for damages
Check vacuum pump oil hoses for damages (diesel powered vehicles)
Check intake air & turbocharger oil hoses for damages (vehicles with turbocharger)
Check operation of crankcase emission control system (petrol powered vehicles)
Replace spark plugs (petrol powered vehicles)
Inspect condition of fuel injectors
Check radiator hoses for damages & proper connection
Check/ clean condition of throttle body
Replace air cleaner element
Check fluid level in automatic transmission (including transfer)
Replace fuel filter
Check engine coolant condition & level
Check brake / clutch fluid & power steering fluid level & condition
Check/ adjust brake pedal & clutch pedal for free play
Check/ top up battery electrolyte level and terminals for loose connections/corrosion; check battery clamp

RECOMMENDED BETWEEN 60,000 kms and 80,000 kms
Replace engine timing belt (Except vehicles with timing chain)
